## National Awards Ceremony 2025 Celebrates Seychellois Excellence

The vibrant and patriotic ambiance of the National Awards Ceremony 2025 was palpable during the elegant event held at the State House on Friday, June 27. Under the esteemed patronage of President Wavel Ramkalawan, the ceremony honored individuals and teams whose dedication has significantly impacted the Seychelles.

### A Heartfelt National Anthem

The proceedings commenced with a stirring performance of the National Anthem by three talented youths from Seychelles: Farhine Ally, Allessandro Evenor, and Danielle Morel. Their rendition set a resonant tone, echoing the pride and unity of the nation.

### Commending Remarkable Contributions

Mr. Robert Grandcourt, Chairperson of the National Awards Committee, opened the event with powerful remarks acknowledging the resilience and commitment of the awardees. He emphasized how their hard work has played a pivotal role in fostering development and unity within the Seychelles.

### Honoring Exemplary Service

In his keynote address, President Ramkalawan praised the recipients for their exceptional service to the nation. He reflected on the significance of recognizing Seychellois who embody qualities such as integrity, national pride, and unwavering perseverance.

### Presentation of National Awards

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards, where President Ramkalawan celebrated the achievements of 13 distinguished individuals and two national sports teams.

#### Medal of Honour Recipients

The prestigious Medal of Honour was awarded to:

1. The late Dr. René Guy Ah Moye
2. The late Mr. Thomas Vaune Alexis
3. Mrs. Milcah Emilien
4. Mr. Antonio Gopal
5. Mrs. Syldovia Rachel Larue
6. Shinan Philippe Moustache
7. Dr. Nirmal Kantilal Jivan Shah

#### Medal of Merit Recipients

In addition, the Medal of Merit was presented to:

1. Ms. Beatrice Aglae
2. Mr. Lienal Joey Thierry Bibi
3. Mr. Jerris Cesar
4. Ms. Marie-Thérèse Hossen
5. Mrs. Daniella Johnstone
6. Mr. Gerry Legras

#### Pride of the Republic of Seychelles

The ceremony also honored the following national sports teams with the title of Pride of the Republic of Seychelles:

– National Women’s Volleyball Team
– National Beach Soccer Team (known as Paradise Boys)

Each award symbolized the nation’s profound appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by these individuals and teams across various sectors.

### A Musical Tribute to Cultural Heritage

One of the evening’s most emotional moments was a tribute to the late Seychellois music legend, Mr. Thomas Alexis. His children, Mr. Amos Alexis and Ms. Josepha Lepere, performed two of his beloved songs, “Manman mon manman” and “Sesel mon pei.” This heartfelt tribute not only honored their father’s remarkable legacy but also ignited a deep sense of cultural pride among the audience.
