Major platforms are not immune, with 4.5 billion cookies from Google and 1.3 billion from YouTube being among the most affected.

Fast forward to 2025, and those numbers have skyrocketed to 18 billion IDs and 1.2 billion session IDs. The stolen data often includes sensitive information such as names, email addresses, passwords, and even physical locations. This year, the malware responsible for these breaches came from an array of 38 different types, which is more than three times the number identified just a year ago. Additionally, researchers uncovered 26 new types of malware that were not previously observed, indicating a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
