The 2025 edition of Intersec Saudi Arabia is wrapping up today at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC). This year has marked the event’s largest gathering yet, drawing more than 400 international companies and facilitating in-depth discussions on pressing regional security issues.

The Future Security Summit, organized by ASIS International’s Dhahran Chapter, delved into key security challenges under the theme “Beyond Borders: Regional and Global Security Cooperation in a Shifting Geopolitical Climate.” Senior officials from prominent organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Naif Arab University, addressed the escalating requirement for cross-border intelligence sharing. They highlighted the need for coordinated strategies to tackle maritime threats, manage disaster risks, and combat transnational crime.
Dynamic Intelligence Frameworks
During the summit, it was emphasized that borders should be understood as fluid connections within a broader intelligence infrastructure. This evolving perspective aims to enhance the ability to disrupt organized crime and trafficking activities, making it easier for nations to collaborate effectively.
Security for Giga-Projects
Another focal point of the discussions was the specific security requirements tied to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious giga-projects. With initiatives such as NEOM, Qiddiya, and the Red Sea Project in mind, industry leaders underscored the necessity for tailored security frameworks. Experts from the King Salman Park Foundation and Red Sea Global concluded the summit with a crucial recommendation: to weave security governance into the very fabric of these projects from their inception. As the Kingdom embarks on building its future cities, emphasis was placed on the adoption of innovations such as artificial intelligence, drones, facial recognition technology, and automation. These advancements are seen as essential in safeguarding both the developmental ambitions and the safety of the public.
