Osceola County Man Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse Material

Incident Overview

In a troubling incident that unfolded in Orange County, Florida, law enforcement officials arrested Janderson Freitas-Leite, a resident of Osceola County, on November 20. The arrest followed a detailed investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office concerning the possession of child sexual abuse material.

Investigation Initiation

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged suspicious activity to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities identified a suspect making illegal purchases on the Dark Web using Bitcoin—a cryptocurrency often associated with anonymous transactions. This crucial piece of information set off a chain of events that would eventually lead to the arrest.

Search and Evidence Collection

On November 14, detectives executed a search warrant at Freitas-Leite’s residence located at The Teale Apartments in Kissimmee. During this operation, law enforcement seized multiple electronic devices, including cell phones and laptops. These devices are now undergoing forensic analysis to gather further evidence related to the allegations.

Charges Filed

The outcome of the investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Freitas-Leite, who faces serious legal consequences. He is charged with eight counts of possessing child sexual performance photos and videos. Additionally, he is charged with one count of illegal use of a two-way communication device.

Current Status

As of now, Janderson Freitas-Leite is being held at the Orange County Jail. His detention follows an out-of-county warrant, highlighting the serious nature of the charges against him and the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat such heinous crimes.

Community Involvement

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office remains proactive in encouraging community involvement. They urge anyone with information pertinent to this case or similar instances of illegal activity to step forward. The collaboration between law enforcement and concerned citizens is vital in addressing and preventing child exploitation.

As this case unfolds, it emphasizes the ongoing struggle against online exploitation and the critical role that technology plays in both the commission of crimes and their subsequent investigation.
