Cohesity Advances Cyber Resilience with Enhanced Data Protection and AI-Driven Security Solutions

Cohesity has unveiled significant enhancements to its data protection and security portfolio, aimed at fortifying enterprise resilience in the face of evolving cybersecurity threats. The latest updates encompass new sovereign cloud partnerships, improved threat detection capabilities, and a streamlined packaging approach designed to extend enterprise-grade functionalities to midsize organizations.

In a series of announcements, Cohesity introduced its Enterprise AI Resilience strategy, which is intended to support and safeguard artificial intelligence initiatives. Additionally, the company launched Cohesity Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), powered by Cyera, to bolster its security offerings. These advancements to the Cohesity Gaia platform underscore the company’s commitment to integrating protection, security, and AI-driven insights into a unified solution tailored for the modern enterprise landscape.

Vasu Murthy, Chief Product Officer at Cohesity, emphasized the dual nature of AI’s impact on data. “AI is increasing both the value of data and the risk surrounding it,” he stated. He highlighted the necessity for organizations to detect threats early, recover to a clean state, and maintain control across complex environments. These updates are designed to enhance the foundational protection and security measures that organizations depend on as they operationalize AI. Murthy noted that as AI becomes integral to business operations, Cohesity aims to provide a cohesive platform that not only secures data but also accelerates innovation.

Addressing Regional Cybersecurity Challenges

Mazin Bayado, Technical Leader for the Middle East at Cohesity, pointed out the increasing complexity of cybersecurity, compliance, and data sovereignty challenges faced by organizations in the region. As digital transformation accelerates, enterprises are seeking platforms that can effectively protect data across hybrid and multicloud environments while enhancing cyber resilience without adding operational complexity. The enhancements to Cohesity Data Cloud are designed to help organizations in the Middle East detect threats earlier, validate clean recovery points, and maintain control over their data protection strategies, whether in sovereign cloud environments or as they scale their security capabilities to meet evolving regulatory and business demands.

The need for robust data protection solutions is underscored by the shifting landscape of regulatory, jurisdictional, and data residency requirements. Organizations are increasingly recognizing the necessity for sovereign cloud architectures that extend beyond mere storage solutions to support comprehensive cyber resilience. Cohesity is making strides in this area through new collaborations with AntemetA and Singtel, which enhance its sovereign cloud ecosystem. These partnerships build on Cohesity’s role as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and its certification as a Google Cloud Ready Regulated and Sovereignty Solutions partner. In Canada, Cohesity is collaborating with Micrologic to deliver sovereign cloud data protection.

Evolving Security and Recovery Mechanisms

As organizations integrate AI into their operations, the security and recovery landscape must adapt to address new risks, including those posed by AI tools and agents. Cohesity is enhancing its threat detection and recovery capabilities to enable organizations to identify malicious activities early, support agent resilience, and restore systems to a known good state. Upcoming security enhancements include:

  • Threat Scanning for Vaulted Data: This feature is designed for customers with digital sovereignty requirements or those operating in isolated dark-site environments. It identifies malware and verifies clean recovery points before restoration.

  • Integrated Threat Scanning for Dark Site Deployments: This capability allows for malware and indicators-of-compromise scanning in environments fully disconnected from the public internet, ensuring resilience even in highly restricted settings.

  • Self-Encrypting Drives and Integrated Malware Scanning: These features for the Cohesity NetBackup Flex Appliance protect data at rest and embed malware detection directly within the appliance, thereby enhancing compliance and physical security.

  • Cloud Application Environment Recovery: Utilizing declarative design, this capability enables the rebuilding of cloud environments from infrastructure-as-code configurations, establishing a trusted baseline that accelerates recovery and reduces configuration drift.

Cohesity has also announced new security capabilities as part of its collaboration with Google, which include a managed service option for Cohesity FortKnox on Google Cloud. This integration with Google Threat Intelligence and Google Private Scanning within Cohesity Data Cloud extends cyber vaulting to Google Cloud environments and embeds secure sandbox inspection into backup and recovery workflows, helping to identify hidden threats before data restoration.

Continuous Data Security Posture Management

In a further enhancement to its data security offerings, Cohesity has introduced Cohesity DSPM powered by Cyera. This solution provides continuous discovery, classification, and posture analysis of sensitive data across cloud, SaaS, and AI-powered environments. By enabling prioritized remediation, it helps organizations reduce exposure to potential incidents before they arise.

With robust protection and security measures in place, organizations can shift their focus toward innovation. Cohesity Gaia allows organizations to derive insights from data already secured within Cohesity Data Cloud. As part of its AI vision announcement, Cohesity introduced federated semantic search via the Model Context Protocol, enabling AI-powered enterprise applications like Glean to securely access governed backup data. Additionally, the Cohesity Gaia Catalog will facilitate the discovery and access of protected data directly from analytics platforms such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.

Simplified Access for Midsize Organizations

To further democratize access to its enterprise-grade cyber resilience platform, Cohesity is launching Cohesity Essentials. This initiative offers simplified pricing and packaging specifically tailored for midsize organizations, allowing them to leverage advanced protection, security, and AI-driven insights without the complexities and overhead typically associated with enterprise-level solutions.

As organizations navigate an increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape, these enhancements from Cohesity represent a significant advancement in the quest for comprehensive data protection and resilience. The focus on sovereign cloud partnerships, enhanced threat detection, and streamlined access reflects a broader industry trend toward more integrated and user-friendly security solutions.

According to publicly available securityreviewmag.com reporting, these developments position Cohesity as a key player in the evolving cybersecurity landscape, particularly as enterprises seek to balance innovation with robust data protection strategies.
