Cohesity Advances Data Protection and Cyber Resilience with New AI-Driven Enhancements and Sovereign Cloud Partnerships

Cohesity has unveiled significant enhancements to its data protection and security portfolio, marking a pivotal step in reinforcing its commitment to enterprise AI resilience. These updates encompass new sovereign cloud partnerships, improved threat detection capabilities, and a streamlined packaging approach designed to deliver enterprise-grade functionalities to midsize organizations.

New Strategies and Solutions for AI Resilience

In a series of announcements, Cohesity introduced its Enterprise AI Resilience strategy, aimed at powering and safeguarding AI initiatives. This strategy is complemented by the launch of Cohesity Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), which is powered by Cyera. Enhancements to the Cohesity Gaia platform further the company’s vision of integrating protection, security, and AI-driven insights into a cohesive framework suited for the evolving demands of the AI landscape.

Vasu Murthy, Chief Product Officer at Cohesity, emphasized the dual nature of AI, stating, “AI is increasing both the value of data and the risk surrounding it. Resilience today requires the ability to detect threats early, recover to a clean state, and maintain control across complex environments at the speed and scale modern enterprises demand.” He noted that these updates are designed to enhance the foundational security and protection that organizations depend on as they integrate AI into their operations.

Addressing Regional Cybersecurity Challenges

Mazin Bayado, Technical Leader for the Middle East at Cohesity, highlighted the growing complexities faced by organizations in the region. As digital transformation accelerates, enterprises are grappling with intricate cybersecurity, compliance, and data sovereignty requirements. Bayado stated, “Organizations across the Middle East are looking for platforms that not only protect data across hybrid and multicloud environments but also strengthen cyber resilience without adding operational complexity.” The enhancements to Cohesity Data Cloud aim to assist these organizations in detecting threats earlier and maintaining control over their data protection strategies.

The Importance of Sovereign Cloud Architectures

In an era where regulatory, jurisdictional, and data residency requirements are continuously evolving, organizations are increasingly recognizing the necessity for sovereign cloud architectures. These architectures must extend beyond mere storage solutions to support comprehensive cyber resilience. Cohesity is making strides in this domain through new collaborations with AntemetA and Singtel, reinforcing its role as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and achieving certification as a Google Cloud Ready Regulated and Sovereignty Solutions partner. Additionally, in Canada, Cohesity is partnering with Micrologic to provide sovereign cloud data protection.

Evolving Security and Recovery Mechanisms

As organizations operationalize AI, the landscape of security and recovery must adapt to address emerging risks, particularly those introduced by AI tools and agents. Cohesity is enhancing its threat detection and recovery capabilities to help organizations identify malicious activities early, support agent resilience, and restore systems to a known good state. Upcoming security enhancements include:

  • Threat Scanning for Vaulted Data: This feature is designed for customers with digital sovereignty requirements or those operating in isolated dark-site environments. It identifies malware and verifies clean recovery points before restoration.

  • Integrated Threat Scanning for Dark Site Deployments: This capability allows for malware and indicators-of-compromise scanning in environments that are fully disconnected from the public internet, ensuring resilience even in highly restricted settings.

  • Self-Encrypting Drives and Integrated Malware Scanning: For the Cohesity NetBackup Flex Appliance, this feature protects data at rest and embeds malware detection directly within the appliance, thereby enhancing compliance and physical security.

  • Declarative Design for Cloud Application Environment Recovery: This approach rebuilds cloud environments from infrastructure-as-code configurations, serving as a trusted baseline that accelerates recovery, reduces configuration drift, and limits the risk of reintroducing vulnerabilities.

Cohesity has also announced new security capabilities in collaboration with Google, including a managed service option for Cohesity FortKnox on Google Cloud. This integration with Google Threat Intelligence and Google Private Scanning within Cohesity Data Cloud extends cyber vaulting to Google Cloud environments, embedding secure sandbox inspection into backup and recovery workflows to identify hidden threats before data restoration.

Continuous Discovery and Classification of Sensitive Data

Further enhancing its data security portfolio, Cohesity introduced the Cohesity DSPM powered by Cyera. This solution provides continuous discovery, classification, and posture analysis of sensitive data across cloud, SaaS, and AI-powered environments, enabling prioritized remediation and reducing exposure before incidents occur.

With robust protection and security measures in place, organizations can shift their focus toward innovation. Cohesity Gaia facilitates the generation of insights from data already protected within Cohesity Data Cloud. As part of its AI vision, Cohesity introduced federated semantic search via the Model Context Protocol, allowing AI-powered enterprise applications, such as Glean, to securely access governed backup data. Additionally, the Cohesity Gaia Catalog will enable teams to discover and access protected data directly from analytics platforms like Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.

Simplified Access for Midsize Organizations

To empower more organizations to operate securely and innovate at scale, Cohesity is launching Cohesity Essentials. This initiative features simplified pricing and packaging tailored specifically for midsize organizations. It provides access to Cohesity’s enterprise-grade cyber resilience platform without the complexities and overhead typically associated with enterprise-level solutions, making advanced protection, security, and AI-driven insights accessible to a broader range of businesses.

According to publicly available securityreviewmag.com reporting, these advancements reflect Cohesity’s commitment to evolving its offerings in response to the dynamic cybersecurity landscape, ensuring organizations are equipped to navigate the challenges of data protection and cyber resilience in an increasingly complex digital world.
