NBK Strengthens Workforce Development with 34 New Professional Certifications Over Three Years

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has made significant strides in workforce development, emphasizing the importance of investing in human capital. Over the past three years, the bank has supported 34 employees across 13 different work groups in obtaining prestigious professional certifications. This initiative not only enhances individual competencies but also aligns with the bank’s broader strategy to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Commitment to Professional Development

NBK’s commitment to employee development is evident in its policies that facilitate the acquisition of accredited professional certifications. The bank plans to introduce 11 new certifications in high-demand fields during 2024 and 2025, further expanding its educational offerings. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at equipping employees with the skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving financial landscape.

The bank has also sponsored six professional development programs, with plans to add more in 2026. This commitment underscores NBK’s belief that competencies are foundational to sustainable growth and institutional excellence.

Strategic Partnerships and Educational Initiatives

In collaboration with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), NBK has enabled 10 employees from seven work groups to obtain advanced professional certifications in less than two years. This partnership reflects the bank’s dedication to enhancing specialized skills in the financial and investment sectors.

Additionally, NBK has organized Moody’s Credit Curriculum programs over the past decade, benefiting a total of 177 employees. This training initiative has been instrumental in developing specialized expertise and preparing the workforce to meet evolving market demands.

Recognition of Excellence in Finance

Recently, NBK participated in the 16th annual CFA charter ceremony for 2026, in partnership with the CFA Society Kuwait. This event honored 19 new CFA charterholders and was attended by prominent figures in the investment community. As a strategic partner of the CFA Society Kuwait, NBK shares a commitment to raising professional standards within the financial sector.

The bank’s initiatives not only support individual career advancement but also contribute to the overall elevation of professional standards in the region. By investing in its employees, NBK is positioning itself as a leader in the financial and banking sector.

Fostering a Culture of Continuous Learning

Najla Al-Sager, Senior Vice President and Head of Talent Management and Learning at NBK, emphasized the bank’s philosophy regarding employee development. She stated that investing in people is the most sustainable and impactful long-term investment. This belief drives the bank’s efforts to create a learning environment that aligns with employee aspirations and supports professional development across various fields.

Al-Sager noted that learning at NBK is viewed as an ongoing journey rather than a temporary phase. The bank strives to cultivate a corporate culture that encourages innovation, personal growth, and knowledge sharing. As NBK expands its programs and introduces new fields and certifications, it continues to empower employees to achieve excellence in an environment that fosters ambition and accomplishment.

Conclusion

Through these comprehensive initiatives, NBK reaffirms its commitment to investing in human capital and promoting a culture of lifelong learning. The bank’s focus on professional development not only strengthens its workforce but also contributes to growth and innovation in the financial and banking sector.
