The survey, conducted by Extreme Networks, found that 88% of respondents expressed a desire for a unified platform that can enhance productivity, streamline investments, and provide protection against cyber threats.

The report, titled “CIO Insights Report: Priorities and Investment Plans in the Era of Platformization,” highlighted the top priorities of CIOs for the second half of 2024. Securing the enterprise network, integrating network and security, and evaluating and deploying AI were identified as the key focus areas.

Amidst the AI hype, security remains a top priority for CIOs, with 34% ranking network security as their number one concern. The survey also revealed that AI implementation requires increased bandwidth, training, strategy, and alignment with security measures.

Furthermore, the survey indicated a growing emphasis on platformization as organizations transition to cloud networking. The majority of respondents are planning network upgrades within the next 18 months, with a focus on adopting cloud-based solutions that support AI and other emerging technologies.

As IT responsibilities continue to expand and grow more complex, the need for simple management solutions has become paramount. Additionally, the importance of sustainable IT practices is on the rise, with companies prioritizing technologies that help reduce their carbon footprint.

Nabil Bukhari, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Extreme Networks, emphasized the need for organizations to prioritize investments that unify components and capabilities in order to harness the power of AI and security.
