Modi Advocates for AI-Driven Policing at DGP-IG Conference

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the urgent need for India’s law enforcement to embrace the dual strengths of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the spirit of an "Aspirational India" during the DGP and IG Conference held on Sunday. Addressing rising challenges like digital fraud and cybercrime, Modi called for a transformation in policing towards a SMART framework—Strategic, Meticulous, Adaptable, Reliable, and Transparent. His vision aligns with the goal of achieving a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).

The Prime Minister applauded the successes of urban policing initiatives and proposed that these models be expanded to 100 cities nationwide. He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to alleviate the burdens on police forces, advocating for police stations to serve as centralized hubs for resource management.

In a significant appeal for enhanced security, Modi directed authorities to focus on the protection of India’s ports, urging the design of a forward-thinking action plan. He also suggested commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary next year by setting ambitious objectives that boost police professionalism and public trust.

The conference provided a platform for in-depth discussions on multifaceted security issues, including counter-terrorism, extremism, and cyber threats. Key figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, facilitated meaningful dialogues on contemporary challenges impacting national security.

With over 750 officers participating in a hybrid format, the conference successfully fostered a nationwide dialogue on the urgent need for technological integration and modernized policing strategies. Modi’s call to action resonated strongly, urging a dynamic and progressive approach to safeguarding India’s societal fabric as security threats evolve.
