Lenovo and Alat Finalize $2 Billion Megadeal to Establish Regional Headquarters in Riyadh

Lenovo and Alat Seal $2 Billion Megadeal, Establish Regional HQ in Riyadh

In a landmark move for the Middle East’s tech landscape, Lenovo and Alat have officially completed a monumental $2 billion strategic collaboration, marking a significant milestone in the region’s economic development. The announcement, made earlier this week, confirms Lenovo’s establishment of its regional headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a decision poised to reshape the local technology sector.

At the heart of this agreement is the creation of a sustainable manufacturing facility, set to produce ‘Saudi-Made’ products by 2026. This initiative not only underscores Lenovo’s commitment to local production but also aims to generate thousands of new jobs across the Kingdom, bolstering the nation’s Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification and industrial growth.

Yuanqing Yang, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration will accelerate our transformation and support Saudi Arabia in achieving its Vision 2030 objectives.” He emphasized that the investment would enhance Lenovo’s supply chain and manufacturing capabilities throughout the Middle East, tapping into the region’s burgeoning market.

Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, echoed Yang’s sentiments, highlighting the pride in becoming a strategic investor in Lenovo. “With a world-class manufacturing hub powered by clean energy, we anticipate significant advancements for Lenovo in the MEA region,” he remarked.

The deal, initially announced in May 2024, has successfully navigated shareholder and regulatory approvals, paving the way for a new era of technological innovation in Saudi Arabia. As Lenovo and Alat embark on this ambitious journey, the partnership promises to not only elevate the tech industry but also contribute to the Kingdom’s broader economic aspirations.
