Cisco AI Readiness Index Reveals Urgent Need for UAE Businesses to Embrace AI Solutions

In a groundbreaking report released by Cisco, the AI Readiness Index has unveiled a startling truth about the state of artificial intelligence adoption among businesses in the UAE. The survey, which gathered insights from 7,985 senior leaders across 30 markets, found that a striking 64% of organizations in the UAE have formulated strategies to deploy AI-powered solutions. However, the clock is ticking, as many companies feel the pressure to implement these strategies effectively within a year to avoid potential setbacks.

The urgency is palpable. Nearly all surveyed leaders indicated that the drive to adopt AI technologies is spearheaded by their CEOs and executive teams. Alarmingly, over half of the respondents believe they have just 12 months to showcase the tangible impacts of AI on their operations. This urgency is reflected in the significant financial commitments organizations are making, with more than a third planning to allocate over 40% of their IT budgets to AI investments in the next four to five years—a dramatic increase from the current 8%.

Abdelilah Nejjari, Managing Director of Cisco in the Gulf and Levant, emphasized the need for businesses to prioritize investments in infrastructure and talent. “Organizations must prepare their workforce and existing data centers to meet the demands of AI deployment,” he stated, highlighting the complexities that lie ahead.

Despite the enthusiasm for AI, the report also points to challenges in fully leveraging its potential. As companies race to embrace AI-driven transformation, the focus on strategy, governance, and culture will be crucial in navigating this technological revolution. The findings serve as a clarion call for UAE businesses to act swiftly and decisively in their AI journeys, lest they fall behind in an increasingly competitive landscape.
