Tenable Acquires Vulcan Cyber to Enhance Exposure Management Capabilities

Tenable to Acquire Vulcan Cyber for $150 Million, Enhancing Exposure Management Capabilities

In a strategic move set to redefine the landscape of cybersecurity, Tenable has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Vulcan Cyber, a leader in exposure management, for approximately $147 million in cash and $3 million in restricted stock units. The acquisition, expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, aims to bolster Tenable’s Exposure Management platform, enabling organizations to better manage and mitigate cyber risks.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, Chief Financial Officer Steve Vintz emphasized the challenges faced by Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) who juggle multiple security tools and fragmented data. “This acquisition is about solving the central challenge of modern security—unifying visibility, insight, and action across the attack surface,” he stated.

With Vulcan Cyber’s innovative capabilities, Tenable plans to enhance its platform by integrating over 100 security products, improving risk prioritization, and streamlining remediation processes. This consolidation will empower security teams to operate more efficiently, focusing on critical vulnerabilities while minimizing blind spots that attackers exploit.

Mark Thurmond, Co-CEO and COO of Tenable, highlighted the significance of this acquisition, stating, “These capabilities represent a fundamental shift in how organizations will manage cyber risks holistically.” By uniting disparate tools and data, Tenable aims to provide a comprehensive view of the attack surface, enabling decisive action against vulnerabilities.

Vulcan Cyber’s CEO, Yaniv Bar-Dayan, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the integration will allow security teams to consolidate exposure findings into a single, actionable interface. “We are excited to start working with Tenable and their customers to remediate exposure risk,” he said.

As Tenable accelerates its vision for a unified approach to exposure management, the cybersecurity industry watches closely, anticipating a new era of enhanced security capabilities.
