State of the UAE Cybersecurity Report 2025: Addressing Evolving Threats and Enhancing Resilience
UAE Cybersecurity Report 2025: A Call to Arms Against Evolving Threats
In a significant move to bolster national security, the UAE Cyber Security Council and CPX have unveiled the ‘State of the UAE Cybersecurity Report 2025’. This comprehensive document sheds light on the escalating cyber threat landscape within the UAE, revealing that over 223,800 assets are vulnerable to cyber-attacks, with half of critical vulnerabilities lingering unaddressed for more than five years.
The report highlights alarming trends, noting that misconfiguration accounts for 32% of cyber incidents, while improper usage and unlawful activities contribute another 19%. As the UAE stands at the forefront of AI-driven innovation, the urgency for advanced cybersecurity measures has never been more pronounced. The government, finance, and energy sectors remain prime targets for cybercriminals, who are increasingly employing sophisticated tactics, including AI-enhanced phishing and deepfake technology.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, stating, “The rise in AI-driven attacks demands international collaboration and innovation to secure our future.” Meanwhile, Hadi Anwar, CEO of CPX, noted that the report serves as a strategic guide for navigating the complexities of cybersecurity in an era defined by rapid digital transformation.
Despite the challenges, there is a silver lining: the UAE has seen a dramatic decrease in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, plummeting from 58,538 to just 2,301 within a year. The report outlines essential best practices, including launching cybersecurity awareness initiatives and establishing a 24/7 Security Operations Center, to fortify defenses against the growing tide of cyber threats.
As the UAE continues its digital evolution, the call for a united front against cyber adversaries resonates louder than ever, ensuring a secure and prosperous digital future for all.
