Cyber Security Awareness Month: CERT-In Launches Activities to Promote Online Safety in India

NEW DELHI: In a bid to bolster cyber security awareness, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has kicked off an extensive month-long campaign to educate citizens and enhance the technical skills of stakeholders. October, recognized globally as Cyber Security Awareness Month, aims to underscore the significance of cyber safety, enabling individuals and organizations to navigate the online world securely.

To further this mission, CERT-In, in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Noida, is hosting a series of online sessions as part of the Cyber CLOSET project, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). These sessions focus on essential topics such as online safety, social media risks, mobile security, and secure digital payment practices.

Among the initiatives, Cyber Safe Girl, alongside the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) program by MeitY, is offering a “Certificate of Cyber Patriot.” This initiative encourages responsible browsing while educating participants about best practices in cyber safety. Citizens can sign up to participate in the informative quiz available on the MyGov platform.

The sessions feature a range of modules designed to address common cyber threats, such as password security, internet hazards, mobile app vulnerabilities, and the risks associated with online payments. By incorporating engaging videos and quizzes, CERT-In aims to make learning about cyber safety interactive and impactful.

Participation in the quiz is free, and attendees will receive a certificate upon completion. As we navigate a rapidly evolving digital landscape, this drive by CERT-In underscores the urgent need for increased vigilance and knowledge, empowering every Indian to stay safe online.
