Telangana Makes Strides in Cybersecurity with Launch of 1930 Helpline

Telangana has set a new benchmark in cybersecurity by launching the country’s first fully operational 1930 Helpline, managed by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB). This helpline serves as a crucial platform for citizens to report financial cyber frauds, showcasing the state’s dedication to protecting its residents from online scams.

Thanks to the proactive measures taken by TSCSB, Telangana now ranks among the top 5 states in freezing or holding victims’ money in fraudsters’ bank accounts. The timely intervention of TSCSB Call Centre and NCRP Monitoring Officers has been instrumental in preventing further financial losses when cybercrimes are reported.

To facilitate the refund process for victims of cybercrimes, TSCSB has collaborated with the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) to develop simplified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines. These protocols ensure that victims receive their refunds promptly without facing unnecessary delays.

In an innovative move, Telangana has expedited the resolution of cases where victims’ funds are frozen in cyber fraudsters’ bank accounts through Lok Adalat. In a significant development, the national Lok Adalat has resolved 546 such cases, resulting in the refund of over Rs. 2 crore to 546 victims.

Telangana is committed to continuing this initiative to provide swift restitution to victims of financial cybercrimes. Citizens are urged to exercise caution by avoiding interactions with unknown individuals, refraining from clicking on suspicious links, and safeguarding their personal information.
