A New Era in AI Collaboration: Introducing Stargate UAE

Historic Partnership Takes Shape

In a remarkable leap toward advancing artificial intelligence, several leading tech giants have united to announce an ambitious project: Stargate UAE. This collaboration involves the cross-continental partnership of G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group, and Cisco. Together, they aim to establish a cutting-edge AI infrastructure cluster at the newly inaugurated 5-gigawatt UAE–U.S. AI Campus located in Abu Dhabi.

Stargate UAE is envisioned as a robust 1-gigawatt compute cluster, set to be built by G42 and managed by the combined expertise of OpenAI and Oracle. The initiative will see the inclusion of Cisco, which will provide zero-trust security and AI-ready connectivity, while NVIDIA contributes its state-of-the-art Grace Blackwell GB300 systems. The resulting facility promises superior infrastructure, expansive compute resources, and rapid inferencing capabilities designed to meet the escalating demands of a technologically advanced society. Anticipations are high, with the first 200-megawatt AI cluster anticipated to be operational by 2026.

Laying the Foundation for Scalable AI

At its core, Stargate UAE aims to forge a reliable and scalable framework for AI that can catalyze scientific breakthroughs and spur innovation across various sectors, including healthcare, energy, finance, and transportation. This initiative not only seeks to drive economic growth but also to foster national development. The UAE–U.S. AI Campus, which will host Stargate UAE, was recently unveiled in the presence of eminent leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

The ambitious project builds upon a newly established framework by the governments of the UAE and the United States, dubbed the “U.S.-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership.” This initiative aims to enhance collaboration in AI and advanced technologies while ensuring the creation of safe, ethical, and responsible AI solutions. As part of this framework, UAE entities are expected to ramp up investments in digital infrastructure within the U.S., echoing the recently announced “America First Investment Policy.”

Pioneering a Global AI Campus

Spanning an impressive 10 square miles, the entire UAE–U.S. AI infrastructure campus emerges as the largest deployment of its kind outside the United States. With a staggering 5 gigawatts of AI data center capacity, it will also serve as a hub for regional compute resources. Sustainability is key; the facility will be powered by nuclear, solar, and natural gas, ensuring minimal carbon emissions. Furthermore, it will feature a science park aimed at driving innovation, talent development, and sustainable computing practices.

Voices of Leadership

The significance of Stargate UAE cannot be overstated. G42’s Group CEO, Peng Xiao, reflects on this major advancement in the UAE–U.S. AI collaboration. “The launch of Stargate UAE is a significant step forward,” he states. “As a founding partner, we’re thrilled to collaborate with organizations that share our commitment to responsible innovation and meaningful global progress. This initiative is fundamentally about building a bridge rooted in trust and ambition, ensuring the benefits of AI extend far and wide.”

In a similar vein, Sam Altman, Co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, emphasizes the transformative potential of establishing Stargate UAE. “By creating the world’s first Stargate outside of the U.S. in the UAE, we’re turning a bold vision into reality. This marks the first significant milestone in our OpenAI for Countries initiative, aimed at collaborating with allies to enhance global AI infrastructures. Our goal is to facilitate key breakthroughs that can emerge from diverse locations and ultimately benefit humanity.”

The Path Ahead

According to Oracle’s CTO and Chairman, Larry Ellison, Stargate UAE exemplifies the synthesis of advanced technology and digital sovereignty. “This first-of-its-kind platform will enable every UAE government agency and commercial institution to link their data to the world’s most sophisticated AI models. It sets a new benchmark for how nation-states can harness transformative technologies,” he remarks.

NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, shares an optimistic outlook on Stargate UAE’s role in shaping the future. “AI is an unprecedented transformative force,” he asserts. “With Stargate UAE, we are architecting the AI infrastructure essential for realizing the country’s ambitious vision—empowering its citizens, enhancing economic growth, and paving the way for a brighter future.”

Lastly, Cisco’s Chair and CEO, Chuck Robbins, expresses his support for the initiative. “We are excited to contribute to Stargate UAE, advancing revolutionary AI innovation both in the UAE and globally. By weaving our secure, AI-optimized networking fabric into this endeavor, we are committed to developing smart, secure, and energy-efficient networks that translate intelligence into tangible impact.”

A Vision Realized

The launch of Stargate UAE signals not just a technological advancement but a commitment to a collaborative, innovative future. As the project unfolds, it promises to empower nations, enhance lives, and ultimately shape a more interconnected and intelligent world.
