UAE Sets Deadline for Emiratisation Compliance

The UAE government is taking decisive steps to ensure that private sector companies enhance their Emiratisation initiatives. With a deadline looming at the end of this month, firms are urged to hire more Emiratis or risk facing fines starting in July.

Urgent Call from MoHRE

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a reminder to all private sector companies with at least 50 employees. In order to meet the Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2025, employers must act swiftly before the end of June. This proactive approach aims to shore up the workforce with Emirati talent, aligning with the UAE’s broader economic goals.

Financial Consequences for Non-Compliance

Companies failing to comply with the Emiratisation quotas could incur financial penalties. As MoHRE gears up to enforce these regulations in July, firms are encouraged to fulfill their obligations to avoid these potential fines. This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to bolstering the employment of nationals in the workforce.

Understanding Emiratisation Goals

Emiratisation aims to increase the representation of Emiratis in skilled positions within the private sector. The specific target set by MoHRE calls for a 1% increase in the number of Emiratis employed in these roles, relative to the total skilled workforce at each firm. This target emphasizes not only the hiring of new Emiratis but also maintaining previous Emiratisation rates, ensuring steady progress in workforce diversification.

Reporting Violations

To strengthen these efforts, MoHRE has opened channels for UAE citizens to report any non-compliance or negative practices affecting the Emiratisation mandate. Individuals can reach out either through the Ministry’s dedicated call center at 600590000 or utilize the smart app and official website. This initiative empowers the public to contribute to the country’s economic vision by holding businesses accountable.

Supporting Companies on the Path to Compliance

MoHRE is not solely focused on enforcing regulations; it also provides ongoing support to companies that align with Emiratisation goals. The Nafis programme offers a range of benefits designed to assist compliant businesses. Companies demonstrating exceptional Emiratisation efforts can gain membership in the Tawteen Partners Club, which provides financial incentives. This includes significant discounts—up to 80%—on various service fees associated with MoHRE.

The Role of the Nafis Platform

The Nafis platform plays a crucial role in helping companies meet their Emiratisation commitments. It features a diverse pool of qualified Emirati candidates, facilitating easier access for businesses aiming to enhance their workforce with local talent. This platform underscores the UAE’s strategic intent to align human resources with local employment needs.

Positive Engagement with Emiratisation Policies

The private sector has shown remarkable engagement with the Emiratisation initiative, reflecting a commitment to meet these crucial targets. MoHRE has noted the impressive progress thus far, indicating that by the end of May, more than 141,000 Emiratis had secured employment across approximately 28,000 private sector companies. This achievement underscores the collective effort towards achieving the national mandate.

Through these measures, the UAE aims to further enhance its work environment, benefiting both the local economy and the Emirati workforce. As companies prepare for the upcoming deadline, the focus remains on collaboration and compliance to ensure the effective implementation of Emiratisation initiatives.
