In a significant move to bolster the presence of women in cybersecurity, EC-Council has teamed up with CyberSHE to offer valuable technical training and career development opportunities to aspiring female professionals throughout the region.
CyberSHE, an initiative by Women in CyberSecurity Middle East (WiCSME), kicked off its activities at the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST). The program aims to create a collaborative environment by merging expertise from various sectors, including government agencies, academic institutions, and industry specialists.
The primary objective of CyberSHE is to provide targeted training, mentorship, and structured career pathways designed specifically for women who aspire to enhance their technical skills and carve out careers in cybersecurity. This program is not only about skill acquisition but also about fostering a sense of community among women in the field.
By focusing on cultivating technical expertise among women, CyberSHE aims to introduce fresh perspectives and promote the development of diverse, capable cybersecurity teams across the region. As Jay Bavisi, Group President of EC-Council, stated: “Cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing fields globally, and the Middle East possesses immense untapped potential. We believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation. Through CyberSHE, we’re providing access to world-class training, mentorship, and new career pathways for women in the region. This initiative symbolizes a committed collaboration that generates lasting opportunities, and we view it as the initial step towards a broader movement to enhance cyber talent in this area.”
Dr. Reem Faraj AlShammari, the Chairperson of WiCSME, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaborative power of CyberSHE. She remarked, “This initiative transcends a simple program; it illustrates the strength of unified efforts. CyberSHE is about aligning critical components of our society to empower a new generation of skilled, job-ready women professionals in cybersecurity. By fostering a talented workforce, we are directly enhancing national cyber readiness and positioning the region to improve its Global Cybersecurity Index rankings.”
Initially launched in Kuwait, CyberSHE plans to widen its reach to other countries in the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar. Over the next three years, the initiative has set a goal to train 1,500 women. This ambitious objective is aimed at strengthening national cybersecurity capabilities and promoting a more inclusive workforce across the region.
