Lucid Group Shatters Electric Vehicle Range Record

Saudi Arabia’s Lucid Group has made headlines by establishing a new world record for the longest distance traveled by an electric vehicle on a single charge. The groundbreaking journey encompassed an impressive 1,205 kilometers (approximately 749 miles) across Europe, showcasing the potential of electric cars in real-world conditions.

The Record-Breaking Journey

Last weekend, the Lucid Air Grand Touring completed its extraordinary trip, navigating from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany. The route incorporated a variety of terrains, including picturesque alpine roads, major highways, and winding secondary roads. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 1,045 kilometers set in June 2025 by a notable 160 kilometers, further solidifying the Lucid Air’s status in the electric vehicle market.

A Technological Marvel

Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid, expressed pride in this significant milestone. He stated that the record is a clear indication of Lucid’s technological advantages. "Our Lucid products blend world-class vehicle efficiency with advanced drive units, ultra-high-voltage architecture, and cutting-edge battery management technology. This means a Lucid can travel farther with less energy compared to other vehicles," he explained.

At the heart of the success of the Lucid Air Grand Touring is its remarkably efficient electric powertrain. Here are some key specifications that contributed to this record:

  • WLTP Range: 960 kilometers
  • Energy Efficiency: 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometers
  • Power Output: 831 PS, with a top speed of 270 km/h
  • Rapid Charging Capability: Adds 400 kilometers of range in just 16 minutes

These features not only highlight the vehicle’s efficiency but also its suitability for long-distance travel, challenging perceptions about electric vehicles’ limitations.

Previous Achievements

This new record is not the first for Lucid. It marks the second instance in which the company has collaborated with Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur known for his electric vehicle endurance challenges. In 2024, Sabanci set a record for visiting the most countries on a single charge, successfully traversing nine nations in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.

Reflecting on his previous journey, Sabanci emphasized, “When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning. This new achievement proves that electric mobility isn’t just the future—it’s already redefining what’s possible today.”

The Future of Electric Mobility

As the electric vehicle market continues to expand, Lucid Group’s accomplishments signify not just a technological feat, but also the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation. With companies like Lucid pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable with electric cars, the push for greener alternatives is becoming increasingly viable.

The record set by Lucid serves as an inspiration for both industry leaders and consumers, highlighting the advancements in electric vehicle technology and the capabilities these vehicles can deliver. With each mile traveled, the vision of electric mobility as a feasible and efficient alternative to traditional vehicles becomes clearer.

Conclusion

The Lucid Air Grand Touring’s historic achievement is more than just a number; it’s a testament to advanced engineering and the growing acceptance of electric vehicles in everyday life. As the world moves toward sustainable solutions, milestones like this pave the way for broader adoption and innovation in the automotive sector.
