KnowBe4, the leading provider of security awareness training and simulated phishing platforms, has made a groundbreaking announcement. The company has officially entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Egress, a prominent player in adaptive and integrated cloud email security. Egress’ Intelligent Email Security suite offers a range of AI-enabled security tools with adaptive learning capabilities to combat sophisticated email cybersecurity threats.

With the majority of data breaches globally involving human error, this acquisition comes at a crucial time. Stu Sjouwerman, CEO of KnowBe4, emphasized the importance of personalized AI-driven controls and real-time coaching in the future of cybersecurity. The collaboration between KnowBe4 and Egress signifies a natural progression for both companies to enhance human risk management and cloud email security to new heights.

Both companies have enjoyed significant success in 2024, with KnowBe4 unveiling its AI-native platform, AIDA, and receiving accolades such as being named a Top Software Winner by G2. Egress, on the other hand, launched its AI-powered Automated Abuse Mailbox and garnered numerous awards for its innovative solutions.

The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to be finalized in the coming months. Backed by FTV Capital and AlbionVC, Egress received financial advice from Citi and legal counsel from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
