Amazon Prime Day 2025: A Seven-Day Shopping Extravaganza

Amazon has officially announced the longest Prime Day event in the Middle East’s history, offering a week-long shopping spree from July 25 to July 31. This extension, aimed primarily at customers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflects a significant change in shopping patterns as consumers increasingly adopt more strategic spending habits.

Evolving Shopping Habits

Stefano Martinelli, Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa, emphasized that shoppers today are becoming more deliberate with their purchases. "We’re witnessing a significant shift toward thoughtful shopping," he remarked. “Customers have moved away from impulse buying to becoming savvy deal hunters who thoroughly research prices and time their purchases around high-profile sales events."

A study conducted by HarrisX for Amazon, combined with internal data, supports this observation. It suggests that consumers are gravitating toward extended sale durations, allowing them to thoughtfully consider their purchases. According to Martinelli, this enables shoppers to make well-informed choices.

A Week Dedicated to Prime Day Deals

The 2025 Prime Day is now a seven-day event in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflecting local consumer preferences for longer sales periods. Martinelli noted that 80% of consumers in Saudi Arabia and 75% in the UAE report feeling a sense of achievement when they snag limited-time offers, enjoying the experience just as much as traditional leisure activities.

Furthermore, the importance of digital membership is rising; 81% of Saudi shoppers and 73% of UAE customers acknowledge its role in enhancing convenience. Amazon Prime now boasts over 200 million paid members globally.

Innovative Features for Shoppers

Martinelli shared that understanding these changing preferences has been essential in shaping Prime Day. “I’m proud to announce that we’re responding to local shopping habits with this week-long sale, featuring millions of deals across beloved brands,” he said. This includes additional ways for customers to save through bank discounts and flexible payment options, all alongside fast delivery services.

Moreover, 73% of UAE consumers and 80% of Saudi consumers prefer prolonged sale events, aligning perfectly with Amazon’s decision to extend Prime Day this year.

Research-Driven Shopping Strategies

A notable finding from the research indicates that 36% of shoppers in the region actively research prices and utilize various tools to find the best deals during major sales. In the UAE, nearly a third of consumers (29%) intentionally align their purchases with these sale events, marking a shift toward more strategic consumer behavior and a clear focus on maximizing value for money.

With millions of deals across more than 30 categories, Prime Day will also allow access to products from Amazon’s international stores, including the US, UK, and Germany.

New Offerings and Partnerships

For the first time, Prime Day will include discounts through Amazon Bazaar, an in-app shopping platform featuring lifestyle products at wallet-friendly prices. Expanding accessibility and convenience is crucial; hence, Amazon has focused on reliable and fast delivery options. “We now offer Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery in major cities across the UAE and Saudi Arabia," Martinelli explained, highlighting a partnership with local delivery service 7X in Dubai to enhance urban delivery.

"This innovation, supported by our advanced AI-driven systems, prepares us for high-demand events like Prime Day, ensuring we fulfill our delivery promises even during busy shopping periods," he added.

Cost of Prime Membership and Benefits

Amazon Prime membership is competitively priced at AED/SAR 16 per month or AED/SAR 140 annually. Membership benefits range from unlimited free same-day and one-day delivery on eligible items to free international delivery and access to streaming services like Prime Video and Prime Gaming. In the UAE, members also enjoy perks with Deliveroo Plus Silver and Amazon Fresh.

Popular Product Categories

Historically, popular categories during Prime Day have included electronics, beauty products, groceries, and home essentials. This year, shoppers can look forward to exciting deals from well-known brands such as Samsung, Dyson, Bose, Tommy Hilfiger, and Adidas, alongside offerings from local small businesses.

The Essence of Prime Day

"Prime Day transcends a typical sale; it’s our way of celebrating and appreciating our valued Prime members," Martinelli concluded. By offering exclusive access to millions of deals and a variety of entertainment services, Amazon aims to create a shopping experience that combines exceptional savings with the swift delivery options that Prime members have come to expect. This year’s Prime Day promises to be an extraordinary occasion for shoppers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflecting the changing landscape of consumer purchasing behavior in the region.
