Professor Marwala reaffirmed the University’s dedication to supporting Egypt’s initiatives, particularly in the realms of digital transformation, AI, and human capital development. Japan: A Key Development Partner
Japan stands out as one of Egypt’s most influential development allies, evidenced by an extensive cooperation portfolio. Currently, around 18 development projects align with Egypt’s government objectives to bolster sustainable economic development. This partnership reflects Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the action plan set for 2024-2027, resonating well with Japan’s funding priorities.
In terms of financial contributions, Japan has offered approximately $2.4 billion in technical support and grants and more than $7.2 billion in development funds. These resources are directed toward crucial sectors such as renewable energy, electricity, transportation, civil aviation, health care, education, and irrigation, among others.
