Afreximbank Launches Season II of ‘Impact Stories,’ Highlighting Transformative Projects Across Africa and the Caribbean

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced the launch of the second season of its documentary series, Impact Stories. This new season builds on the success of the inaugural series and features six films that showcase the Bank’s expanding influence across Global Africa, including narratives from both the Caribbean and Africa.

Documentary Series Overview

Produced in collaboration with Create, the branded content studio of CNN International Commercial, Season Two takes viewers to locations such as Grenada, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria. The series aims to illustrate the significant outcomes of strategic investments, emphasizing the human and economic transformations occurring across the continent and its diaspora. Each episode provides an in-depth look at landmark projects and partnerships that are unlocking enterprise, constructing essential infrastructure, and fostering a new era of prosperity.

Key Projects Highlighted

The documentary series features a variety of impactful stories, including the expansion of the Silversands Resort in Grenada, which serves as a flagship project for deeper cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean. Another focal point is the Dangote Refinery in Lagos, which exemplifies the ambitious vision driving Africa’s economic future. The series also transports viewers to Aba, Nigeria, to observe the Geometric Power project revitalizing a historic industrial hub through reliable electricity. In Ghana, the series follows the journey of cocoa from farm to global market, facilitated by the Bank’s partnership with Plot Enterprise.

Celebrating Africa’s Creative Economy

The series also highlights the burgeoning creative economy in Africa, featuring the Ghanaian fashion brand Boyedoe as it prepares for its debut at Paris Fashion Week, supported by Afreximbank’s Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) program. The final episode delves into the renovation of Abidjan’s iconic Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, showcasing how investment in national infrastructure can yield extensive cultural and economic benefits for local communities.

Statements from Afreximbank Officials

Mrs. Anne Ezeh, Director of Communications and Events at Afreximbank, emphasized the series’ role in documenting the Bank’s core mission and impact. She stated that the films transcend mere investment narratives; they portray partnerships and progress, reflecting the Bank’s commitment to fostering economic independence. By showcasing the entrepreneurs, communities, and national economies involved, the series aims to present a vision of a prosperous and integrated Global Africa. Ezeh noted that the showcase is crucial for demonstrating that the foundational elements for greater economic integration are either already in place or currently being developed, thereby inspiring businesses and regions to enhance intra-African trade.

Martin Laing, Senior Director of Production and Global Executive Producer at CNN International Commercial’s Create Brand Studio, remarked on the privilege of collaborating with Afreximbank for the second season of Impact Stories. He highlighted the series’ focus on powerful human stories and the tangible impact of Afreximbank’s initiatives across Africa and its global diaspora.

Series Launch and Promotion

The six new episodes of Impact Stories are set to debut on Afreximbank TV on March 12th. This series serves as a testament to Afreximbank’s mandate to finance and promote trade, illustrating how strategic investments are transforming opportunities into tangible prosperity for businesses and communities in Africa and the Caribbean. The series will be promoted through high-impact formats across CNN.com and will feature a long-form TV campaign on CNN International.
