2025 State of Cybersecurity Report: Key Insights and Recommendations for Enhanced Security

Ransomware Threats Loom Large: Ivanti’s 2025 Cybersecurity Report Reveals Urgent Need for Preparedness

In a landscape increasingly dominated by cyber threats, Ivanti has unveiled its latest findings in the "2025 State of Cybersecurity Report: Paradigm Shift." The report, which surveyed over 2,400 executive leaders and cybersecurity professionals, paints a stark picture of the challenges ahead, with ransomware emerging as the most pressing concern for the coming years.

Alarmingly, 38% of security professionals predict that ransomware attacks will become even more perilous, particularly as artificial intelligence enhances the capabilities of cybercriminals. Yet, despite this looming threat, only 29% of respondents feel adequately prepared to combat such attacks, revealing a significant gap in readiness that organizations must urgently address.

The report emphasizes the necessity for a more sophisticated approach to cybersecurity—one that balances business risks with operational goals. Exposure management, a strategy that evaluates vulnerabilities across various business objectives, is highlighted as a crucial tool for navigating this complex environment. However, despite 49% of security professionals acknowledging their leaders’ understanding of exposure management, only 22% plan to increase investments in this area in 2025.

Daniel Spicer, Chief Security Officer at Ivanti, stresses the importance of collaboration between security teams and other departments. “For exposure management to be successful, organizations must conduct risk assessments aligned with their risk appetite and prioritize the mitigation of impactful vulnerabilities,” he stated.

The report also uncovers critical issues such as the prevalence of tech debt, which hampers security efforts for one in three professionals, and the detrimental effects of data silos, which slow response times and weaken security postures.

As organizations grapple with these challenges, the call to action is clear: embrace exposure management, dismantle silos, and invest in robust security measures to safeguard against the evolving threat landscape.
