Shattered Dreams: The Amethi Paramedical Institute Scam

A significant education fraud has erupted in Amethi, impacting the lives of 36 women students who were promised a pathway to careers in healthcare. The Amethi Institute of Paramedical and Science has allegedly deceived these students, collecting over ₹72 lakh in fees under false pretenses. As the exam week approached, hopes to enter nursing and paramedical fields turned into despair when students found themselves barred from appearing.

The Promises That Lured Students

Families were drawn to the Amethi Institute with promises of quality education and assured admissions into reputable courses in nursing and paramedical science. For many students, this seemed like a golden opportunity. They enrolled enthusiastically, often borrowing money or draining their savings to pay hefty fees. However, what lay beneath these enticing promises was a harsh reality.

According to investigators, the students were informed that their fees were being deposited into colleges located in Jaunpur, Noida, and Bareilly. In a shocking turn of events, no transactions had actually taken place. Once the examination dates arrived, students who had even received admission cards from Bareilly found themselves turned away at the gates. The realization that they had been taken advantage of left many families devastated.

Unraveling the Fraud

The investigative efforts have unveiled a web of deceit involving the institute’s director, Prince alias Azam Khan, and his associates. Alongside him, individuals such as Vivek Srivastava, Shailendra Maurya, Brijesh, Dilip Bajpai, Rehan Khan, and Alishan are now under scrutiny. Amethi police have registered a formal case against these individuals and confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to trace the siphoned funds and unearth the full extent of this operation.

The Outcry from Students and Families

The sense of betrayal has ignited protests among the affected students and their families. On September 14, they marched to the local police station, clutching the forged receipts that had promised them a brighter future. Their chants filled the air with anger and sorrow, as they accused the institute of destroying their aspirations.

One parent poignantly noted during the protest, “This is not just about money — it is the murder of our daughters’ dreams.” The emotional weight of such statements underscores the severe impact this fraud has had on their lives, painting a picture of lost hope and shattered futures.

Expert Insights into the Growing Trend

This case has attracted the attention of education experts, who warn about a dangerous trend emerging in smaller towns. They emphasize the commercial exploitation of students, who often are less informed about their options in the education sector.

One analyst stated, “Frauds like this are spreading rapidly. Without stricter monitoring by state regulators and education departments, such scams will continue to target vulnerable students.” This serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the urgent need for more stringent oversight in the education industry to protect unsuspecting students from falling victim to similar scams.

In light of this harrowing incident, the story of the Amethi Institute serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of students and the importance of safeguarding their educational journeys.
