Apple Watch Helps Catch Secret Suitcase Thief at Florida Airport

Paola Garcia, a university student in Florida, had a shocking experience when her checked baggage didn’t make it to the airport. Little did she know that her suitcase and valuables were closer than she thought, and her Apple Watch would play a crucial role in catching the secret suitcase thief.

Garcia, who usually carries her luggage on the plane, was forced to check her bright pink, hard-shell suitcase while flying to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Inside her suitcase were various valuables, including a MacBook, two Apple watches, an iPad, jewelry, and designer clothes. The most important item for Garcia was her computer, as she needed it for her university studies.

After waiting for two hours at the airport, Garcia’s suitcase never arrived. Unbeknownst to her, the thief, Junior Bazile, who worked at an airport store, had stolen her valuables and stowed her suitcase away. However, Garcia’s Apple Watch came to the rescue when it directed her to an address just fifteen minutes from the airport.

Using the ‘Find My’ feature on her Apple Watch, Garcia located her suitcase at Bazile’s house, where she saw heaps of suitcases and alerted 911. Law enforcement identified Bazile as the thief and charged him with grand theft. Spirit Airlines, the airline Garcia was traveling with, issued a reimbursement check as a courtesy and assured that they are investigating the incident.

The story of how Garcia’s Apple Watch helped catch the secret suitcase thief has garnered attention and serves as a reminder of the importance of technology in solving crimes.
