On December 14, Bahrain celebrated Police Day with a ceremony that underscored the crucial role of its police force in maintaining national security and stability. His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Governor of the Southern Governorate, took center stage during the event, recognizing multiple security agencies for their exemplary coordination and efforts throughout 2025. This acknowledgment points to the collaborative spirit among the various branches of Bahrain’s law enforcement.

The ceremony attracted senior officials from the Ministry of Interior and representatives from numerous security services, showcasing the unified approach to public safety in Bahrain. The Governor highlighted that the nation’s stability and security are firmly rooted in the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the vigilant oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, according to reports from the Bahrain News Agency.

In his address, the Governor commended the professionalism and commitment of police personnel, emphasizing their pivotal role in safeguarding the community under the leadership of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior. This acknowledgment reinforces the importance of dedicated service within the police force.

The ceremony also featured a presentation that reviewed significant achievements from the year, highlighting the success stories of various departments. Those honored included senior officers from Civil Defence, Traffic, Criminal Investigation, and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate, reflecting a comprehensive appreciation for teamwork in public safety.

Post-ceremony, the Ministry of Interior published detailed performance metrics for 2025, revealing a remarkable decrease in crime rates, reaching their lowest in recorded history. This achievement is credited to their strategic approach that integrates modern technologies and emphasizes community partnerships.

The reports indicated that Civil Defence responded to approximately 14,000 cases, while police across the governorates managed nearly 70,000 incidents. The Emergency Centre received more than two million calls, operational patrols addressed 27,229 cases, and community services logged close to 10,000 interactions, showcasing the high demand and responsiveness of these services.

Additionally, the Ministry outlined progress in enhancing border control and travel services. Over 300,000 new electronic passports were issued, positioning Bahrain fifth in the Arab world based on the passport index. Customs operations were streamlined, enabling the infrastructure to accommodate about 14 million vehicles and 350,000 trucks, which has significantly reduced waiting times to an average of 21 minutes.

On the international front, Bahrain participated in various collaborative regional and global security operations. The Anti-Narcotics Directorate achieved a top rank in the Arab region for operational intelligence, highlighting Bahrain’s leadership in combating drug-related crime. Moreover, the nation maintained its Tier 1 status in the fight against human trafficking, reflecting its strong commitment to addressing this critical issue.

Furthermore, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening financial and economic security through its National Strategy to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing. This initiative underscores Bahrain’s proactive approach to ensuring a secure financial environment.

The Ministry continues to prioritize training, public awareness, and community engagement as integral elements of its strategy, alongside an ongoing modernization effort that leverages advanced technology for better service delivery.
