BBVA Partners with Telefónica Tech to Enhance Global Cybersecurity Operations

BBVA, one of the leading global financial institutions, has taken a significant step towards enhancing its cybersecurity measures by partnering with Telefónica Tech. This collaboration aims to utilize the latest technologies in Artificial Intelligence and process automation to prevent cyber threats on a global scale.

As part of this alliance, a new specialized center will be established in Mexico, mirroring BBVA’s existing Global Cybersecurity Centre in Spain. This move will ensure comprehensive coverage and uninterrupted protection for the entire group.

Telefónica Tech, now a key strategic partner for BBVA in cybersecurity, will provide a range of services designed to anticipate, identify, and respond to potential threats. The bank will benefit from the technology company’s global expertise and advanced security solutions, reinforcing its resilience against cyber-attacks.

The creation of a new cybersecurity center in the Americas, alongside the one in Europe, underscores the commitment to bolstering security measures. With around 200 cybersecurity professionals working collaboratively, BBVA aims to offer one of the most extensive cybersecurity services in the financial industry.

Sergio Fidalgo, BBVA’s Global CISO, emphasized the significance of these cybersecurity hubs in safeguarding the bank’s operations and ensuring the best security standards for customers. María Jesús Almazor, COO of Telefónica Tech for Spain and the Americas, highlighted the importance of evolving cybersecurity measures to stay ahead of threats.

This strategic partnership signifies BBVA’s ongoing digital transformation journey, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to protect its operations in over 25 countries. By prioritizing cybersecurity, the bank aims to provide customers with a secure and reliable experience in today’s digital landscape.
