Chainalysis has uncovered significant cryptocurrency transactions linked to a major child sexual abuse material (CSAM) website on the dark web, revealing over $530,000 in payments through more than 5,800 addresses since 2022.

Chainalysis Reveals Cryptocurrency Links to Major Darkweb CSAM Site

Investigation Driven by Law Enforcement

The recent investigation was initiated following a crucial tip-off from UK law enforcement agencies. Chainalysis, a prominent blockchain analysis firm, utilized advanced on-chain tracing techniques and proprietary software to delve deeper into the situation. This extensive examination revealed a vast network of illicit activities that appears to overshadow even the notorious “Welcome to Video” case from 2017, which had previously drawn significant attention from law enforcement.

How the CSAM Website Operates

The CSAM website features a multi-tiered membership model, allowing users to pay for access via cryptocurrency. Utilizing QR codes, this structure simplifies the transaction process, supporting a range of illicit content types. Initiating payments as early as July 2022, the site reportedly remains active as of June 2025, indicating its continued operation and the ongoing need for vigilance.

Collaborative Efforts with Law Enforcement

Chainalysis is working closely with global law enforcement agencies, sharing leads that could assist in dismantling this network. The organization remains deeply committed to supporting investigations aimed at both users and operators of the site. Tools like Reactor and Data Solutions play a vital role in these efforts, allowing investigators to track activities and expose those involved. Compliance teams leveraging Chainalysis products, such as Know Your Transaction (KYT), may encounter heightened alerts linked to this case and are advised to review their alert settings accordingly.

Continuous Monitoring of Cryptocurrency Movements

In addition to investigating existing operations, Chainalysis continues to monitor the financial movements associated with this infrastructure. Regular updates are provided to customers and partners, reinforcing the company’s dedication to combatting online child exploitation. Organizations, including law enforcement or compliance teams, seeking assistance can utilize the established support channels offered by Chainalysis.
