Report: Majority of CIOs Seek Integrated Platform for Networking, AI, and Security
A recent survey of 200 CIOs and senior IT professionals has revealed a significant trend towards the integration of networking, AI, and security into a single platform. The survey, conducted by Extreme Networks, found that 88% of respondents expressed a desire for a unified platform that can enhance productivity, streamline investments, and provide protection against cyber threats.
The report, titled “CIO Insights Report: Priorities and Investment Plans in the Era of Platformization,” highlighted the top priorities of CIOs for the second half of 2024. Securing the enterprise network, integrating network and security, and evaluating and deploying AI were identified as the key focus areas.
Amidst the AI hype, security remains a top priority for CIOs, with 34% ranking network security as their number one concern. The survey also revealed that AI implementation requires increased bandwidth, training, strategy, and alignment with security measures.
Furthermore, the survey indicated a growing emphasis on platformization as organizations transition to cloud networking. The majority of respondents are planning network upgrades within the next 18 months, with a focus on adopting cloud-based solutions that support AI and other emerging technologies.
As IT responsibilities continue to expand and grow more complex, the need for simple management solutions has become paramount. Additionally, the importance of sustainable IT practices is on the rise, with companies prioritizing technologies that help reduce their carbon footprint.

The trend towards platformization reflects a desire for a streamlined user experience and increased value through integrated solutions.
