Survey Reveals Organizations Prioritize Investment in SaaS Security: Key Findings and Trends

In a recent survey conducted by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), it was revealed that 70% of enterprises are ramping up their investment in SaaS security. Despite economic uncertainty and job cuts in 2023, organizations are focusing on strengthening the security of their SaaS applications.

The survey, titled “2025 CISO Plans and Priorities,” involved 478 global security professionals across various industries. It highlighted a significant increase in SaaS security budgets, with enterprises boosting their SaaS security staff by 56% and increasing budgets by 39% compared to the previous year.

One of the key findings of the survey was the growing importance of SaaS security, with 80% of organizations prioritizing it as a high or moderate priority. This marks a shift from previous years where SaaS security was often considered an afterthought.

Another significant development identified in the survey was the establishment of dedicated SaaS security teams within organizations. Over 70% of respondents reported having dedicated teams, with a majority employing at least two full-time staff members for SaaS security.

Despite the progress made in SaaS security, organizations still face challenges in securing their SaaS applications. The survey identified visibility into business-critical apps, tracking security risks from third-party apps, and ensuring data governance as some of the key challenges faced by organizations.

Overall, the survey highlighted a positive trend in SaaS security investment, with a decrease in the number of security incidents reported by organizations. Companies that utilize SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) were found to be more successful in handling SaaS security challenges compared to those using other methods.

The survey underscores the importance of prioritizing SaaS security and investing in the right tools and processes to address the evolving security landscape. By focusing on SaaS security, organizations can mitigate security risks and ensure the safety of their data and applications in an increasingly digital world.
