Cleopatra Hospitals Group (CHG), the largest private healthcare network in Egypt, has successfully reduced its investigation times for high-severity cyber incidents from eight hours to just two. This significant improvement follows the deployment of Kaspersky Next XDR Expert, a solution designed to enhance threat detection and response within CHG’s highly digitized healthcare environment.
Enhanced Cybersecurity for a Digitized Healthcare Network
Formed through the consolidation of several leading hospitals, CHG has automated over 90% of its workflows, establishing a centralized digital environment that facilitates seamless interactions for patients, partners, and staff. However, this digital transformation necessitated a more sophisticated approach to cybersecurity, moving beyond traditional antivirus solutions to a dedicated system that offers deeper visibility and a mature security operations model.
As CHG’s digital infrastructure expanded, its existing security measures became inadequate. After a thorough evaluation of various cybersecurity solutions based on factors such as product maturity, vendor expertise, and cost-effectiveness, CHG chose Kaspersky as its cybersecurity partner, aligning with its long-term strategy.
Implementation and Results
Kaspersky specialists collaborated with CHG’s technology teams to integrate Kaspersky Next XDR Expert into the organization’s infrastructure. This solution provides comprehensive visibility and automation across multiple data sources, including endpoint, network, and cloud data. Kaspersky also offered end-to-end support during the deployment, ensuring optimal integration with existing security tools.
The results have been remarkable. With the new system in place, CHG has built a more robust foundation for its security operations, leading to a 75% reduction in investigation times for high-severity incidents. Medium-severity incidents are now resolved in four hours instead of a full day, while low-severity incidents see an 83% reduction in investigation time, dropping from two days to just eight hours. These enhancements allow CHG’s security team to prioritize significant risks more effectively and minimize the impact on healthcare operations.
Dr. Amr AlAshkar, Chief Information Officer at CHG, emphasized the importance of this visibility, stating, “Kaspersky has helped us strengthen visibility across our environment, from endpoint activity and threat correlation to log analysis and zero-day investigation. For a healthcare organization operating at this scale, that visibility is essential to maintaining resilient operations and supporting patient care.”
Sherif El Khoriby, Head of B2B Sales for Egypt at Kaspersky, noted that as healthcare organizations undergo rapid digital transformation, their cybersecurity measures must evolve accordingly. He highlighted that the collaboration with CHG illustrates how a mature security operations model, combined with advanced visibility and automation, can enhance threat detection and response capabilities.
As CHG continues to serve over two million patients annually, managing more than 3,000 endpoints and over 500 servers, the improvements in cybersecurity are crucial for maintaining operational integrity and patient care.
