Commercial Bank of Dubai Launches AI Initiative with Microsoft Copilot Promptathon

In a bold move to enhance its digital transformation, the Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) recently hosted a groundbreaking Microsoft Copilot Promptathon, aligning with the UAE’s vision to spearhead artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. This event, held in collaboration with the Microsoft Innovation Hub, marks a significant step in CBD’s rollout of Microsoft’s Copilot to over 800 employees.

The Promptathon is part of Dubai’s ambitious ‘One Million Prompters’ initiative, aimed at training a million individuals in AI prompt engineering. Dr. Bernd van Linder, CEO of CBD, emphasized the urgency of adapting to rapid technological advancements, stating, “The combination of AI, Open Finance, and soon Quantum Computing will transform banking more profoundly than at any other time since the introduction of the ATM.”

During the event, participants collaborated with CBD’s executive leadership, including Dr. van Linder, to tackle real business challenges through advanced prompt engineering. This innovative approach allows employees to refine their skills in utilizing Copilot, enhancing productivity and creativity across various applications.

Naim Yazbeck, Microsoft’s UAE General Manager, praised CBD’s commitment to AI adoption, noting that the Promptathon reflects the transformative potential of Microsoft Copilot in the financial sector. “By focusing on prompt engineering, CBD is setting new standards for AI integration in financial services,” he remarked.

This latest initiative builds on CBD’s previous successes, including the launch of award-winning digital banking platforms and strategic partnerships with fintech leaders. With the Promptathon, CBD aims to cultivate a new generation of ‘Prompt Ambassadors’ to drive AI adoption, further solidifying its role as a key player in Dubai’s vision for seamless AI integration across industries. As CBD embraces this digital future, it positions itself at the forefront of banking innovation in the UAE.
