Webinar to Address Exploitability of New CVEs Amid Rising AI Threats

Cyber Warriors Conclave — nine editions, one cyber safe nation

A new Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) has been identified, raising concerns among cybersecurity professionals regarding its potential exploitability. As reported by The Hacker News, the severity score of this vulnerability appears alarming, but the critical question remains: can it be exploited in specific environments?

The emergence of Mythos-class AI is significantly shortening the timeframe between the disclosure of vulnerabilities and their exploitation. Many security programs, however, continue to assess risks on a weekly or quarterly basis, creating a dangerous gap that is now measured in time rather than just technicality.

Reassessing Vulnerability Prioritization

While a high severity score indicates a potentially serious vulnerability, it does not guarantee that an attacker can exploit it. Security teams require quicker answers to essential questions, such as:

  • Is the affected asset exposed?
  • What attack techniques are necessary for exploitation?
  • Do existing security controls mitigate those techniques?
  • Is the final assessment that the vulnerability is blocked or exploitable?

This validation process will be demonstrated live by Ishak Celikkanat, Solutions Architect Lead at Picus, in an upcoming webinar titled “How to Prove You’re Ready for Mythos-Class Attacks.”

Challenges in Testing Exploits

Testing live exploit code on production systems can be risky. The webinar will illustrate how teams can effectively map vulnerabilities to their corresponding attack techniques and validate these behaviors against existing controls. This approach provides defenders with evidence, even when direct exploitation is not feasible.

The objective is straightforward: replace assumptions with defensible answers while the vulnerability is still relevant. As environments can change rapidly, the validation process must keep pace to address emerging threats effectively.

For those interested in enhancing their cybersecurity readiness, registration for the webinar is encouraged, with recordings available for those unable to attend live.
