2025 State of Security and Identity Report: Key Insights and Trends

Security Landscape Transformed: HID’s 2025 Report Highlights Shift Towards Unified Platforms and AI

In a rapidly evolving threat landscape, security leaders are embracing a transformative approach to safeguarding their organizations, according to HID’s newly released 2025 State of Security and Identity Report. The comprehensive study, which surveyed 1,800 partners, end users, and security professionals globally, reveals a significant pivot towards unified platforms and emerging technologies, with mobile credentials and artificial intelligence leading the charge.

Ramesh Songukrishnasamy, Sr. VP of Engineering at HID, emphasized the urgency of this shift: “The integration of modern technology with existing infrastructure is no longer optional—it’s imperative.” The report indicates that 73% of security leaders now prioritize software-driven unified solutions, moving away from traditional siloed methods.

Key findings highlight a marked increase in the adoption of mobile credentials, with 61% of security leaders identifying this trend as pivotal. Nearly two-thirds are either deploying or planning to implement mobile solutions, while the demand for biometric technologies—such as fingerprint and facial recognition—continues to rise, with 35% currently utilizing these systems.

Moreover, the report underscores a growing preference for open platforms that facilitate seamless integration, with over half of security professionals deeming interoperability “extremely” important. This trend is mirrored in the strategic focus on converging platform solutions, as organizations seek to unify physical and digital security functions.

As digital innovation reshapes the security channel, 77% of partners believe they are adapting well to the changes, yet they must continuously evolve to meet the rising demand for AI, cloud solutions, and advanced analytics. With 75% of security leaders factoring sustainability into their decision-making, the industry is not only prioritizing security but also aligning with broader environmental goals.

The 2025 State of Security and Identity Report paints a picture of an industry at a crossroads, where innovation and integration are key to navigating the complexities of modern security challenges.
