Empowering Women in Tech: Insights and Strategies from Ghazal Asif Farhadi

Breaking Barriers: Ghazal Asif Farhadi Advocates for Women’s Empowerment in Tech

On International Women’s Day, Ghazal Asif Farhadi, VP of Global Channels at Rubrik, emphasized the persistent challenges women face in the tech industry, notably gender bias and a lack of representation. With women holding just 33% of leadership roles at Rubrik, Farhadi believes that increasing female visibility in tech is crucial to dismantling stereotypes and fostering an inclusive environment.

“Women need to see role models who have navigated a successful career in technology,” she stated. The scarcity of women in prominent positions reinforces outdated notions about their capabilities, which can deter aspiring women from pursuing careers in the field. To counter these stereotypes, Farhadi is committed to implementing equitable hiring practices, ensuring diverse candidates are strongly represented in final interviews.

Farhadi also pointed to the rapidly evolving landscape of AI and cybersecurity as fertile ground for women seeking fulfilling careers. “These sectors are ripe with opportunities across all levels. However, there is a critical need for skills training to ensure teams—especially women—are equipped for success as technology evolves,” she noted.

Inspired by mentors like Selin Song of Google, Farhadi has adopted a philosophy of “progress not perfection,” emphasizing action over hesitation. This approach has guided her in creating an inclusive workplace at Rubrik, where flexible hours and development programs support team members at all stages of their careers.

As Farhadi reminded young women considering careers in tech: “Explore different roles and seek mentorship. Your voice matters, and there is a place for you here.” Her call to action is clear: companies must commit to ongoing, tangible efforts for gender equality, ensuring that women feel empowered to thrive in technology throughout the year, not just on special occasions.
