The ransomware group stated that data release was scheduled for June 9, raising alarm among stakeholders and the public.

In light of the alarming situation, Epworth HealthCare conducted a thorough investigation with the support of independent cybersecurity experts. In their response to Cyber Daily, the organization confirmed that there had been no breach of their network. They emphasized, “We can confirm that Epworth’s IT systems have not been breached or compromised. No data stored within Epworth’s IT environments has been accessed, lost, or altered.” The hospital remains fully operational, ensuring uninterrupted patient care across all facilities.

Epworth has indicated that the claims likely refer to a third-party provider unrelated to its own IT environment. This external party has already been notified as part of the response process. While Epworth has not publicly identified this third party, they continue to monitor the situation closely and are in touch with relevant authorities at both state and federal levels.

The Global ransomware group is relatively new in the field of cybercrime, with Epworth HealthCare reportedly being its first publicly listed victim. Collected information indicates that, at the time of writing, the group had four victims listed on their leak site. So far, they have released data connected to one of these entities, a UK vehicle repair company known as Motor World ARC.
