Innovative European and British Start-ups to Take Over Dubai at Expand North Star
Expand North Star, the world’s largest start-up event, is set to take place from 13-16 October 2024 at the iconic Dubai Harbour, featuring a record-breaking number of European and British start-ups. With over 2,000 start-ups expected to participate, including more than 400 from Europe and the UK, this 9th edition of the event promises to be the biggest yet.
Organized by Dubai Chambers and hosted by Dubai World Trade Centre, Expand North Star is part of GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest tech event. Start-ups will showcase their innovations in various sectors such as Agritech, Artificial Intelligence, Fintech, Health Tech, and more. Germany leads the new country pavilions, followed by Ireland, Poland, Latvia, Austria, and Portugal.
The UK, with 50 start-ups on their flagship stand, has seen a twofold growth in participation compared to the previous year. France, Italy, and Turkey are also well-represented. Omar Hassan, Managing Director of Global Growth Hub in the UK, expressed excitement about the diverse range of technology companies joining the delegation, spanning across FinTech, AI, Sustainability, and EdTech.
European start-ups have seen a significant increase in funding, with a 31% rise in Q2 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Investors and VCs from around the world will be present at Expand North Star, including prominent names like SpeedInvest, H Tree Capital, Startup Wise Guys, Prediction Capital, and M4 Ventures. The event will also feature a pitch competition with a $200,000 cash prize.
With over 65 global unicorns in attendance, including companies like Volocopter, BitPanda, and Climeworks, Expand North Star promises to be a powerhouse event for the tech industry. Together with GITEX GLOBAL, the event will showcase 6,700 companies from 180+ countries across 41 halls, making it the world’s biggest tech takeover in Dubai.
