Since its emergence in August 2022, Qilin has made a name for itself as one of the most active ransomware groups, reportedly claiming 678 victims to date.

In recent months, Qilin has targeted numerous organizations, including the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited, the sole importer and exporter of electricity in Uganda. Another notable victim was Belmont Christian College in Australia, which fell prey to the group on August 7. To date, the hackers have claimed attacks on seven organizations in Australia and one in New Zealand, showcasing their global reach and impact.
