Instead, the focus is shifting towards flexibility, operational resilience, and long-term cost optimisation. This evolution is crucial as businesses seek to balance their technological needs with financial constraints.

HPE’s approach is centred on enabling enterprises to rethink their virtualisation strategies through a combination of phased modernisation and hybrid architectures. This strategy not only addresses immediate operational concerns but also positions organisations for future growth in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

Case Study: Navigating Cost and Risk

Many organisations face the dual challenges of rising licensing costs and complex legacy virtualisation environments. The migration follows a structured crawl-walk-run approach: initially piloting non-production workloads, utilising the new environment for disaster recovery with Zerto, and subsequently migrating production workloads in controlled phases. This methodical approach minimises risk and ensures a smoother transition.

Parallel Environments for Flexibility

HPE’s strategy also includes running VMware and Hyper-V environments in parallel, allowing organisations to meet their business goals without compromising on workload choice or cost control. This approach enables mission-critical workloads to remain on VMware while lower-risk workloads—such as development, testing, and non-critical applications—can transition to Hyper-V, thereby reducing licensing costs.

HPE Alletra MP provides unified storage for both environments, while HPE OpsRamp simplifies management. This parallel model offers customers the flexibility and negotiating leverage necessary for a safer path to modernisation.

HPE distinguishes itself in a crowded market by prioritising execution over mere technology. The company’s focus is on facilitating modernisation without causing disruption or unnecessary risk. Unlike competitors that may advocate for a fixed stack or a “rip and replace” model, HPE promotes phased evolution through its suite of solutions, including Alletra MP, Zerto, OpsRamp, and GreenLake.

This strategy grants customers platform choice, non-disruptive migration, unified management, and pay-as-you-grow flexibility.
