Israeli Hacker Group ‘WeRedEvils’ Claims Responsibility for WiFi Outages in Iran

The Israeli hacker group ‘WeRedEvils’ has once again made headlines by claiming responsibility for reported WiFi outages in Iran. According to a report from the Jerusalem Post, the group has a history of targeting foreign countries, including previous hacks into Iran’s oil infrastructure.

Prior to the internet disruptions in Iran, the group issued a warning on their Telegram channel, stating, “In the coming minutes, we will attack internet systems and providers in Iran. A severe blow is on the way.” True to their word, the group later claimed to have breached Iran’s communications system, causing widespread disruptions in various regions.

The extent of the internet outages in Iran remains unclear, with conflicting reports from the country. Many users have reported experiencing disruptions in parts of the country, including internet blackouts in Tehran. The group has also claimed responsibility for blocking WhatsApp accounts of the Hadid family members and cutting off the internet in Yemen in the past.

The timing of this latest attack on Iran’s internet infrastructure is significant, coming shortly after the reported assassination of Hamas’ political leader in Tehran. As Iran prepares to avenge the killing, the ongoing cyber warfare between Israel and Iran continues to escalate.

As the weekend begins in Iran, the situation remains tense, with both sides vying for control through digital means. The actions of the ‘WeRedEvils’ hacker group highlight the growing threat of cyber warfare in the modern world.
