Kaspersky Enhances Cloud Workload Security for Hybrid and Multicloud Environments

Kaspersky has rolled out a significant update to its Kaspersky Cloud Workload Security (CWS), specifically designed to bolster protection for hybrid and multicloud environments. This new iteration addresses the increasingly complex nature of cloud infrastructures, providing organizations with enhanced visibility, improved defense mechanisms for container runtimes, and a more adaptable, cost-effective method for securing workloads.

Addressing Security Challenges in Cloud Environments

Organizations frequently face security challenges that can jeopardize their cloud infrastructures. According to a research paper titled “Alleviating Cloud Migration Difficulties with Robust Hybrid-Cloud and Container Security,” published by Kaspersky in partnership with ISG, a striking 60% of surveyed entities identified the monitoring and proactive prevention of runtime misconfigurations as a top challenge with their existing cloud security measures. Kaspersky’s updates are aimed directly at helping these organizations stay ahead of potential cyber threats.

Key Components of Kaspersky Cloud Workload Security

Kaspersky Cloud Workload Security consists of two core products: Kaspersky Container Security (KCS) and Kaspersky Hybrid Cloud Security (KHCS). The latest enhancements to KCS introduce a host of new features, including node operating system vulnerability scanning and file threat protection, which extend runtime security across both nodes and orchestrators.

Organizations can now enhance their network connection reputation data through integration with their own vulnerability feeds, in conjunction with data from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Kaspersky’s comprehensive databases. This feature allows companies to tailor their threat intelligence to better reflect their specific risk landscape.

Improved Operational Transparency and Integration

The update also brings improved operational transparency, highlighting detailed logs of changes in Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) cluster objects. Incident response has been made more agile, as the new version supports WebHooks, enabling seamless data sharing with any compatible software—even when direct integration is not feasible. Additionally, Kaspersky’s KCS now supports Microsoft Azure Registry and Google Cloud Platform’s Kubernetes and Registry, allowing organizations to enhance security across a broader range of platforms.

Expanded Security Policies

The update further extends security policies—including Assurance, Runtime, and Response—resulting in higher detection rates and greater flexibility. These advancements ensure that organizations can align their security strategies with both business objectives and regulatory requirements, readily addressing evolving threats.

Enhancements in Hybrid Cloud Security

The Kaspersky Hybrid Cloud Security has also seen considerable improvements. The recently upgraded Light Agent now utilizes Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows (version 12.10) and Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux (version 12.3) as light agents, significantly boosting integration and security features for hybrid environments.

Tackling Common Customer Challenges

Kaspersky’s update is geared toward solving prevalent challenges faced by customers, such as security blind spots in cloud environments, increasing infrastructure costs, and pressures surrounding regulatory compliance. Traditional endpoint and open-source solutions often fall short in securing multicloud workloads; thus, Kaspersky combines advanced automation with rich contextual intelligence to help enterprises maintain resilience while meeting both business and compliance goals.
