Muscat – In a significant move towards digital innovation, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has unveiled a new electronic platform dedicated to event management. This initiative is part of Oman’s broader strategy for digital transformation, aiming to streamline event organization processes across the nation.

Unveiling at the E-Commerce Forum

The announcement came during the second edition of the Oman E-Commerce Forum 2025, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, coinciding with the COMEX Global Technology Exhibition 2025. This event underscored the importance of e-commerce as a catalyst for economic growth and innovation.

The ‘Faaleyat’ Platform

In collaboration with Data Mining Company, MoCIIP introduced the ‘Faaleyat’ platform, designed to handle various aspects of event management, including registration, ticketing, and venue access. By providing a centralized solution, the platform aims to make event organization smoother for both organizers and participants, enhancing efficiency throughout Oman.

Insights from Key Officials

The forum saw the participation of H E Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry, along with other senior officials from MoCIIP. In his opening remarks, Dr. Masan emphasized that e-commerce is not just a trend, but a pivotal element for economic advancement globally. He pointed out that this forum presents a venue to showcase Oman’s progress in digital transformation as part of the Oman Vision 2040 initiative, which seeks to boost the sultanate’s competitiveness on the world stage.

Global E-Commerce Trends

Dr. Masan highlighted compelling statistics, noting that global e-commerce sales are expected to reach a staggering USD 6.42 trillion this year, with projections suggesting a rise to over USD 21.33 trillion by 2030. He reiterated the necessity of Oman’s investments in digitalization, which are crucial for sustaining economic growth and enhancing the country’s competitive edge.

Progress on National E-Commerce Strategy

Further remarks from Dr. Masan emphasized the development under the National e-Commerce Strategy 2022–2027, which boasts a completion rate of 73% across its eight strategic pillars. Progress includes:

  • ICT Infrastructure: 75% completion
  • Transport and Logistics: 90% completion
  • E-Procurement: Fully implemented
  • Legal and Regulatory Frameworks: Advancements made
  • E-Payments: Notable improvements
  • Business Facilitation and Skills Development: Enhanced support for start-ups and initiatives promoting Omanisation in logistics.

Strategic Discussions at the Forum

Nasra bint Sultan al Habsi, Director General of Commerce at MoCIIP, remarked that the forum serves as an invaluable platform for exchanging international expertise and best practices. She highlighted the ministry’s ongoing commitment to enriching the digital transformation of its services, enabling businesses and entrepreneurs to effectively harness electronic solutions in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

Exploring E-Commerce Ecosystems

The forum also featured engaging discussions on various trends within the e-commerce landscape, such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and the significance of entrepreneurship in fostering innovation among small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These conversations aim to align Oman’s digital economy with global practices, reinforcing its growth trajectory.
