NETSCOUT Unveils Enhanced DDoS Protection Solutions Amid Rising Cyber Threats

In a bold move to fortify digital defenses, NETSCOUT has announced significant updates to its Arbor Edge Defense (AED) and Arbor Enterprise Manager (AEM) products, part of its Adaptive DDoS Protection Solution. This initiative comes in response to alarming findings from NETSCOUT’s DDoS Threat Intelligence Report, which revealed a staggering increase in application-layer and volumetric attacks by over 43% and 30%, respectively.

As cybercriminals become increasingly sophisticated, the rise of DDoS-for-hire services has made launching attacks easier than ever. The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recently echoed this concern, issuing a cybersecurity advisory that underscores the urgent need for enhanced protective measures against malicious activities.

“IT environment complexity is often the top challenge for organizations,” stated Chris Rodriguez, Research Director at IDC. “Proactive, adaptive measures, like those offered by NETSCOUT, are essential to mitigate risks effectively.”

NETSCOUT’s innovative approach leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) through its ATLAS Threat Intelligence Feed, which monitors over 550 terabits of internet traffic in real-time. This advanced system enables a closed-loop DDoS attack analysis and mitigation process, automatically adapting to evolving threats and providing tailored recommendations for defense.

Scott Iekel-Johnson, AVP of DDoS and Threat Intelligence at NETSCOUT, emphasized the importance of these enhancements: “Adaptive DDoS Protection equips customers with a sophisticated feature set designed to combat the ever-evolving threats to critical IT infrastructure.”

The latest updates also include improved visibility into non-DDoS threats, a new appliance capable of mitigating up to 200 Gbps of DDoS attacks, and extended support for Microsoft Azure, ensuring comprehensive protection across hybrid cloud environments. As cyber threats continue to escalate, NETSCOUT’s commitment to innovation positions it as a leader in safeguarding vital digital assets.
