“2024 Cyber Recovery Readiness Report: Resiliency Markers Impact Confidence and Preparedness – Commvault and GigaOm Survey Results”

Commvault, a leading provider of cyber-resilience and data protection solutions, has partnered with GigaOm to release the 2024 Cyber Recovery Readiness Report. This global survey of 1,000 security and IT respondents across 11 countries has uncovered five key capabilities, or resiliency markers, that significantly impact an organization’s ability to recover from cyberattacks.

The resiliency markers include early warning security tools, a known-clean dark site or secondary system, an isolated environment for data storage, defined incident response processes, and specific measures to show cyber recovery readiness. Companies that deployed at least four of these markers recovered 41% faster from cyberattacks and experienced fewer breaches compared to those with zero or one marker.

According to Chris Ray, Cybersecurity Analyst at GigaOm, only 13% of respondents were categorized as cyber mature, indicating a need for organizations to prioritize resiliency in their cybersecurity strategies. Additionally, frequent testing for cyber recovery readiness is crucial in preventing re-infection and ensuring robust recovery processes.

Tim Zonca, VP of Portfolio Marketing at Commvault, emphasizes the importance of modern testing practices for cyber recovery. Companies that solely focus on Disaster Recovery testing may be missing out on essential measures to combat evolving cyber threats.

Overall, the survey highlights the critical role of resiliency markers in increasing confidence, preparedness, and recoverability in the face of cyber threats. As organizations strive to enhance their cyber resilience, deploying multiple resiliency markers becomes essential for staying ahead of bad actors in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
