The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Cybersecurity Strategies for IT Professionals

A recent report by GetApp sheds light on the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity strategies by IT professionals in the U.S. The report reveals that 64% of IT and security professionals consider AI as a crucial defense against the rising sophistication of cyberattacks.

Key findings from the report include the fact that 45% of U.S. respondents have pinpointed AI solutions for network and cloud security as their top investment priorities for the upcoming year. Additionally, 80% of respondents plan to increase their cybersecurity budgets in 2025 to combat the growing complexity of threats.

The survey also indicates that 90% of U.S. companies are currently utilizing AI-assisted cybersecurity tools, with AI-driven threat detection and monitoring being the most popular features. These include real-time monitoring, advanced malware detection, threat intelligence integration, and routine task automation.

To help IT leaders harness the full potential of AI in cybersecurity, the report offers three key recommendations. These include planning around AI’s cyberthreat prevention strengths, prioritizing human-in-the-loop approaches to ensure proper oversight, and ensuring data is prepared for AI integration by focusing on data management and governance.

With the increasing reliance on AI in cybersecurity, staying ahead of cyber threats and protecting sensitive data will require a multi-faceted approach that leverages the benefits of artificial intelligence while maintaining human oversight and data integrity.
