Oman shows exceptional performance during Standoff cyberbattle

Oman Shines in Standoff Cyberbattle at Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024

The Oman team has emerged victorious in the Standoff cyberbattle, showcasing their exceptional cybersecurity defense tactics against over two dozen countries. The battle, which took place in 2024 as part of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, saw cybersecurity experts from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa coming together to test their skills and knowledge.

Participants engaged in various cyberattack defense exercises, testing strategies and exchanging valuable insights to enhance their cybersecurity practices. The cyberbattle involved realistic simulations of cyberattacks on IT systems from various sectors such as finance, industry, power, oil and gas, and utilities.

During the battle, the defense teams handled 425 incidents, investigated 145 attacks, and detected 112 vulnerabilities. The award ceremony, graced by officials such as Alexander Shoitov and Tatyana Matveeva, recognized the outstanding performance of teams from different countries, including Insight Information Security from Oman.

Insight Warriors, the attacker team from Insight Information Security, stood out for their exceptional performance, detecting 25 vulnerabilities and securing the second-highest score. Motasim Alanburi, a Senior Cyber Security Analyst at Insight Information Security, expressed the importance of such cyber exercises in enhancing cybersecurity skills to defend against evolving threats.

The Standoff cyberbattle not only provided a platform for fierce competition but also facilitated intensive training and networking opportunities for cybersecurity professionals. The event highlighted the significance of continuous learning and collaboration in strengthening cybersecurity defenses. Oman’s shining performance in the cyberbattle reflects their commitment to cybersecurity excellence and readiness in the face of emerging cyber threats.
