Significant Growth in Emiratisation in the UAE’s Private Sector
The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has made a noteworthy announcement regarding the employment of Emiratis in the private sector. As of June 30, 2025, over 152,000 Emiratis are now employed across 29,000 companies, a milestone that aligns with the Emiratisation targets set for the first half of the year.
Achievements in Emiratisation Efforts
According to MoHRE, these figures signify the success of the Emiratisation initiatives in the private sector. The ministry attributes this increase to effective policies around Emiratisation and the Nafis programme, both of which are guided by the vision of the UAE’s leadership. The ongoing efforts underline a commitment to boosting Emirati employment and enhancing the presence of local talent within the private sector.
The rising number of Emiratis taking up jobs in the private sector is not just a statistic; it symbolizes the competitiveness of Emirati talent in the labor market. This growth also highlights the important contributions Emiratis are making toward the sustainability and growth of their respective companies.
Encouraging Developments in Employment Landscape
The ministry underscored that the increasing employment rates point to the private sector’s evolving landscape, making it more appealing for Emirati professionals. This trend is bolstered by leadership figures such as Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who chairs the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) and emphasizes the importance of nurturing Emirati talent.
Further corroborating this progress, MoHRE noted a remarkable 33% growth in the number of business establishments over the past year, reflecting the positive impacts of the UAE’s developmental model and its efforts to create a conducive business environment. This upsurge illustrates the proactive approach taken by companies to align with Emiratisation goals.
Collaborative Efforts Strengthening the Labor Market
MoHRE praised the participation of private-sector companies engaged with Emiratisation policies, acknowledging their commitment to adhere to regulations aimed at nurturing local talent. This collaboration is integral to supporting the UAE’s broader objectives for boosting Emirati contributions to the economy, enhancing the competitiveness of the labor market, and driving sustainable growth.
As companies adapt to these changes, they are fostering an environment that not only uplifts Emirati professionals but also ensures operational efficiency and flexibility within their workforce. The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining the progress achieved in Emiratisation through continued partnerships with the private sector.
Incentives to Promote Emiratisation
To further encourage compliance with Emiratisation targets, MoHRE plans to continue providing incentives for companies that meet their hiring goals. Businesses will benefit from the various initiatives and advantages offered through the Nafis programme, designed to promote Emirati employment.
Emiratis are increasingly integrated into six key sectors: business services, intermediation, trade, repair services, construction, and manufacturing. They are taking on roles ranging from specialists to managers, filling essential positions that contribute significantly to each sector’s success.
Looking Ahead: Future Emiratisation Goals
As the second half of 2025 approaches, the MoHRE is optimistic about building on its current success. The ministry has set a goal of achieving a 1% increase in Emirati employment within organizations that have 50 or more employees. Moreover, companies in certain industries employing between 20 and 49 workers will also be mandated to hire at least one Emirati before the year concludes.
This comprehensive strategy reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the role of Emiratis in the workforce and ensuring that they play a vital role in the nation’s economic future.
