UAE Cyber Security Council and Commvault Launch Innovation Center to Strengthen National Cyber Resilience
ABU DHABI – The UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC) and Commvault have jointly announced the establishment of a dedicated Innovation Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi. This initiative highlights the ongoing collaboration between the two organizations and represents a significant advancement in enhancing cyber resilience across the UAE.
Unveiling the Innovation Center of Excellence
The Innovation Center of Excellence (CoE) was inaugurated during Commvault’s SHIFT Dubai roadshow at the Museum of the Future. This facility is designed to serve as a regional hub for cyber resilience research, innovation, and the protection of digital infrastructure. It will also function as a central venue for executive, customer, and partner engagements, featuring dedicated workstations and demonstration areas that showcase Commvault’s cyber resiliency capabilities in practical scenarios. The center will provide simulated production environments where participants can gain hands-on experience in responding to AI-driven attacks and recovering complex applications, including cloud workloads and identity systems like Active Directory.
Supporting the UAE’s National Vision
This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s national vision for secure digital transformation. By integrating government entities, critical infrastructure operators, universities, startups, and global technology partners into a cohesive ecosystem, the initiative aims to bolster the nation’s cybersecurity posture.
A notable aspect of the CoE is the planned establishment of a regional Commvault Readiverse environment. This environment will feature flagship simulations such as “Minutes to Meltdown” and “Minutes to Recovery,” allowing government agencies and enterprises to experience live cyberattacks and recovery scenarios. This approach diverges from traditional methods focused solely on detection and containment, enabling users to engage with compromised backups, execute recovery plans, and rebuild environments under realistic threat conditions. Such immersive experiences are crucial for enhancing resilience against modern AI-driven cyber threats.
Developing Future Cyber Resilience Professionals
In addition to the CoE, Commvault and the UAE CSC are committed to nurturing the next generation of cyber resilience professionals through a self-paced e-learning program. This initiative will provide university students with access to industry-aligned training and certification opportunities, including the chance to earn the Commvault Practitioner Certification upon completion. This effort supports the UAE’s national cybersecurity priorities by fostering a skilled workforce adept in enterprise-grade data protection and cloud technologies.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, emphasized the importance of cyber resilience as a national imperative. He stated that it requires not only the ability to defend but also the capacity to recover. The establishment of the CoE with Commvault directly enhances this capacity, providing enterprise-grade recovery simulations and structured talent certification to the UAE’s government entities and critical infrastructure operators. This initiative is a tangible step towards building a digitally sovereign nation, prepared for both current and future threats.
Strengthening the UAE’s Cybersecurity Landscape
Fady Richmany, Corporate Vice President for Emerging Markets at Commvault, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with the Cyber Security Council. He noted that the collaboration aims to fortify organizations in the UAE on their journey toward achieving true resilient operations. By leveraging Commvault’s expertise in operational efficiency and cyber resilience alongside the strategic leadership of the UAE Cyber Security Council, this initiative is poised to reinforce the UAE’s position as a global leader in cybersecurity innovation and trusted digital infrastructure.
