Rilian Secures $17.5M to Accelerate AI-Native Cybersecurity Platform Expansion

Rilian, an AI-native cybersecurity and defense systems integration firm, has successfully closed a $17.5 million seed and seed extension funding round. This capital infusion aims to enhance its agentic AI capabilities, particularly within government and critical infrastructure sectors.

Funding Details and Strategic Goals

The funding round was spearheaded by notable investors including 8VC, First In, and Tamarack Global, with additional contributions from 8090 Industries, Liquid 2 Ventures, Perot Jain, and Protego Ventures. The proceeds will facilitate Rilian’s expansion efforts across the United States, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, and other allied countries. Key areas of focus will include go-to-market strategies, engineering recruitment, and research and development for agentic AI-powered cybersecurity and defense solutions tailored for both commercial and national-scale applications.

Company Background and Technology Offering

Founded by cybersecurity and defense experts Christian Schnedler, Nick Pompeo, and Dan Fischer, Rilian’s flagship product, Caspian, serves as an agentic security orchestration platform. This innovative solution consolidates various cyber and defense technologies into a unified command layer, enabling autonomous operations across an organization’s existing tools and infrastructure. The platform is designed for a diverse clientele, including government entities, private sector operators, and critical infrastructure providers. It allows for the deployment and automation of security capabilities across various environments, including private or sovereign clouds, on-premise systems, air-gapped networks, and compliance-sensitive settings.

Caspian is equipped with pre-trained AI agents that enhance analyst productivity through automation, anticipate adversarial actions, and facilitate knowledge retention, thereby reducing onboarding challenges for new capabilities and personnel.

Strategic Partnerships and Contracts

In July 2025, Rilian secured a contract with the UAE Cybersecurity Council aimed at safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure. Under this agreement, the UAE’s National Security Operations Centre will implement Caspian to integrate, operate, and automate cybersecurity solutions across operational technology environments. The project includes dedicated AI agents trained to autonomously assess risks and respond to national-level threats, collaborating with technology partners from the UAE, the United States, and allied nations. Rilian has also established strategic partnerships with leading cyber and defense technology providers, hyperscalers, and foundational AI large language model developers, including SentinelOne, Censys, and SimSpace.

Market Context and Industry Implications

The broader cybersecurity landscape highlights the significant opportunity Rilian is pursuing. According to Gartner, global cybersecurity and risk management expenditures have surpassed $200 billion annually, with further growth anticipated. Research indicates that the global government and public-sector cybersecurity market is expected to grow from approximately $45–50 billion in 2025 to over $70 billion by 2030. This growth is driven by the increasing emphasis on strengthening critical infrastructure and the adoption of zero-trust and sovereign cloud architectures by the U.S., NATO allies, and partner governments.

Recent conflicts, such as Operation Epic Fury and the ongoing war in Ukraine, have illustrated the effectiveness of AI-enabled systems as critical force multipliers in hybrid warfare. These systems integrate cyber operations, electronic warfare, information operations, and kinetic strikes, creating complex data environments that exceed human processing capabilities. Rilian’s platform is designed to bridge this gap, enabling defenders to respond more swiftly and accurately than adversaries operating at machine speed.

Leadership Insights

Christian Schnedler, CEO and co-founder of Rilian, emphasized the challenges faced by national security organizations. He noted that the primary obstacle is not a lack of budget or technology but rather the effective utilization of technical capabilities amid limited skilled manpower. He pointed out that while innovation hubs like Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv produce impactful technologies, scaling these solutions within governmental frameworks can take years, particularly in global conflict zones where timely deployment is critical. Rilian aims to transform security into a successful execution model rather than a procurement and staffing challenge.

Schnedler further stated that the recent funding will accelerate Rilian’s mission to ensure that the U.S. government, its allies, and critical infrastructure providers worldwide can access and operationalize advanced security capabilities through agentic AI, meeting the demands of speed, trust, and compliance.

Alex Moore, a partner at 8VC, remarked on Rilian’s role in redefining how sovereign organizations access and operationalize advanced cyber and defense capabilities. He noted that Rilian operates at the intersection of AI, national security, and critical infrastructure, where the stakes are highest and traditional approaches are failing. Moore believes that Rilian’s platform strategy and its collaborations with top innovators position the company to become foundational infrastructure for modern sovereign defense.
